Only seven members of the class of 2017 are participating in the Ulpan with our compassionate, patient and extremely talented teacher, Ruthie. We are learning all the important words, like "sebaba" and "chikchak". The oppressive heat into which we landed has already begun to give way to what seems like a cool, productive autumn; or maybe we are just adjusting. To anyone who says that Israel is unwelcoming or unfriendly, I challenge them to make that statement after spending a few days among the students, faculty and staff of The Technion, who have been helpful and accommodating at every step. The food is great, the pools are like paradise and our small, already tight-knit group embodies the qualities that will steer us to excellence in the next few years and beyond: competitive spirit, tolerant supportiveness, diligence and a great sense of humor. Thank you TeAMS for putting together this great team.
