We're a few months into our first semester, and things are going very smoothly down here in Bat Galim! We have a relatively large class of 36 people from the U.S. and Canada who bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, and interests. Everyone is finding their unique niches here both academically and socially and have already formed strong friendships within all four TeAMS classes. In fact, over this past Chanukah break, several of us headed on international trips together - from opera in Budapest to skiing in France to exploring sites in Turkey. We've finished our first major exam of our medical training and everyone did a great job. Along with learning a tremendous amount both in our courses and in dissections, we are looking forward to our upcoming clinical experiences at Rambam Medical Center. TeAMS' small, tight-knit program and the chance to work individually with administration and program advisors has allowed some of us to already get started on our MD thesis projects as well as establish connections with faculty. We've already taken advantage of the unique experiences afforded to us as medical students at the Technion, making a positive contribution to our new community: recently, several TeAMS 2017 classmates brought their Chanukah cheer and sufganiyot to the Rambam pediatric department. Since our first class dinner on the beach, our class has established a tight-knit within TeAMS and within the Israeli program as a whole. Along with the upperclassmen, we have organized ongoing Shabbat potlucks and social outings to fun neighborhoods in Haifa and in nearby Tel Aviv, and we're just as strong outside of class as we are in the classroom. TeAMS 2017 is on our way to setting up our lives for the next few years here in Israel and we couldn't be more excited! Elinor Artsy (2017) Jeffrey Bubley (2017) |
